Municipal elections 2026

Municipal elections are on Wednesday 18 March 2026.

If you come from another EU country and are registered in the BRP in the Netherlands, you can take part in the municipal elections. This means you can vote for the councillors who make decisions that are (or may be) important to you too. Topics include housing, work, safety, traffic, waste, sports and welfare.

You will automatically receive a voting pass by post if you are eligible to vote. On 18 March 2026, you go to a polling location near you and take your voting card and ID with you. There you will receive an electoral list, and in the voting booth you will colour one box red of the candidate you choose.
